Neymar Jr full of praise for Manchester United's Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane

Neymar Jr has been quizzed on his thoughts about Manchester United pairing Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane.

PSG’s Neymar Jr is one of the greatest players to play the beautiful game.

He has been on fire this season so far too, scoring 9 and assisting 7 in 8 games for the French outfit.

He has won almost everything there is to win in football from league titles to Olympic gold, with his sights set firmly on that World Cup trophy, being the one tournament he is yet to win.

Neymar Jr has spoken to DAZN, and played a game where he had to describe five of the current greatest players in the world in just a single word.

Neymar has played with many super stars during his time at the club, however one player he is yet to link up with is Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

When asked to describe the man who has scored over 800 professional goals throughout his career, he simply replied: “Genius.”

Ronaldo was not the only player who was mentioned within the interview. Another who was brought up within the realm of the world’s best defenders is Frenchman Raphael Varane.

Neymar was full of praise for the defender, who he has battled against on numerous occasions in domestic leagues, the Champions League and international fixtures.

“I’ve played against Varane many times. He’s a very good centre-back,” Neymar said of Varane.

“He’s quick and intelligent. His positioning is very good. He’s a top player. He almost never gets it wrong. That’s why he’s won so much.”

Raphael Varane has had a brilliant start to life under Erik ten Hag so far, forming a top class partnership with new signing Lisandro Martinez at the heart of United’s defence.

He was part of the side which recently won four Premier League fixtures in a row, conceding just two goals in the process; one against Liverpool, and the other against Arsenal.

Despite Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad on Thursday through a controversial VAR penalty, Varane will no doubt be back in Ten Hag’s starting line-up for the next Premier League game.

This would be against Leeds United at Old Trafford, however there is speculation that the game could be postponed as part of the Premier League’s mourning of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
