Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Lisandro Martínez after having made a £46 million offer, according to reports.

It was reported very recently that Manchester United's executives would meet Ajax today to discuss a potential move for Lisandro Martínez.

As a follow-up, Fabrizio Romano further mentioned that United executives had reached Amsterdam to seal a deal for the player.

He also mentions that personal terms have already been agreed with Martínez.

In addition to the fact that a meeting was set to take place between relevant parties, a number of reports from England now imply United are closing in on a potential deal for the player.

John Cross of Mirror Sport was the first to mention that United were closing in on an agreement for Lisandro Martínez with Ajax. He stated that there was a will on both sides to get a deal done, after the player had informed Ajax twice of his intentions to leave.

This was followed by James Ducker of Telegraph Sport, who stated that Ajax were ready to accept defeat in their efforts to retain Lisandro Martínez.

He went on to mention that United hope an offer worth £46m including add-ons would seal the deal.

In addition to this, the article also mentioned that Martínez's ability to be adept in one-on-one situations was a major reason why he's considered an important reinforcement for Erik ten Hag.

Ducker also stated that the player preferred a move to United over Arsenal.

Alex Crook of talkSPORT talked about a similar offer of £46m including add-ons, and went on to mention that United were inching closer to a breakthrough on the deal. It was also stated that Arsenal were now out of the race to sign the player.

Paul Hirst of Times Sport reiterated Ducker's information about Ajax having accepted defeat in their bid to keep the player at the club. He also mentioned that Ajax wanted a total of £46m for Martínez, which would basically be the amount United are apparently going to offer as per the aforementioned reports.

Rob Dawson of ESPN also reported that United were closing in on a deal for the Ajax defender. He went on to state that it was likely United would have to pay more than €50m (around £42m) for a deal to be ultimately agreed.

Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic also had an update on the matter. In addition to mentioning that talks were being held between clubs, he mentioned that a deal could be done for €55m (almost £46m) plus add-ons.

That part of his information would be, as things stand, contradictory to the price points mentioned by the likes of James Ducker and Paul Hirst - who have stated United will submit an offer of £46m including add-ons and that Ajax want a total £46m package respectively.

Sky Sports also mention that a move for the player is close to being agreed, and add that the structure of payments of a potential deal are now being discussed.

While there seems to be some work left to do to iron out the finer parts, Lisandro Martínez to Manchester United seems like a deal which should be agreed relatively soon.
