Manchester United have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of central midfielder Casemiro.

The deal for the 30-year-old is subject to the agreement of personal terms, UK visa requirements and a medical.

United's official statement reads: "Manchester United is delighted to announce that the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of Casemiro.

The transfer is subject to the agreement of personal terms, UK visa requirements and a medical.

Casemiro has played over 500 professional games, including 63 at international level for his native Brazil. He has won 17 major honours in his illustrious career including five Champions League titles and the Copa America.

We all look forward to welcoming Casemiro to Old Trafford."

The fee for the deal has been widely reported at an initial £60 million, with a further £10 million in add-ons.

Meanwhile, Casemiro will be among top earners at the club, according to Rob Dawson of ESPN.

He has a performance-related contract, so his wages will be increased if and when he's playing in the Champions League.

United fans will be extremely happy that they finally have a true defensive midfielder in their ranks.

It has been a huge problem at the club for a number of years, but Casemiro has been considered one of the best in that position for over six years.

He will be linking up with former Real Madrid teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane at Old Trafford.

The French centre-back showed his excitement to reuniting with Casemiro on Instagram.

Minutes before the official announcement, Varane posted a spoiler; uploading an image of him smiling with an emoji to match.

Then, after it was announced, the defender uploaded a post welcoming the Brazilian to Old Trafford.

"Many battles fought together with my warrior Case!" He began. "Welcome to Manchester, amigo."

The 30-year-old midfielder is set for his medical this weekend before United face Liverpool in the Premier League on Monday, however he will not be registered in time to play.
