Diogo Dalot is excited for Manchester United's first pre-season camp under Erik ten Hag, as preparations for the new Premier League season get underway.

The right-back will be going into the campaign feeling as the favoured right-back for the first time in his United career.

With reports suggesting that Aaron Wan-Bissaka is one of five defenders that United want to sell, the Portuguese is correct to have that feeling.

It will be imperative for Dalot, and his United teammates, to learn Ten Hag's style this summer, with a crucial Premier League term ahead.

There is no excuse for a poor start to the season this year, as the Reds are finally able to have a full pre-season tour for the first time in three years.

The tour will also allow that players to travel to different countries and meet just some of United's worldwide fanbase.

“It’s great bringing fans to stadiums, back to football," Dalot told club media. "That’s what football is about.

“To go travelling around the world, and see the love and support [our fans] have been showing, will be great. It will be a very good feeling to have them back in pre-season.”

Following a poor season, United need to change aspects of their play.

They conceded more goals than ever in the Premier League, and recorded their lowest points total in the competition. Finding the back of the net seemed impossible at times.

Erik ten Hag's introduction should bring hope to many supporters. The Dutchman has improved many players in his time at Ajax and plays an attractive brand of football.

Dalot realises, however, that it isn't quite that simple and that he and his teammates need to work hard in their preparations for the season in order to maximise Ten Hag's chances of encouraging players to adopt his philosophy.

“I’m sure that you will start to see a few things, a few new ideas from the manager,” The Portuguese said. “Hopefully, we can see great things and start to build our ideas.

“[We need to] train properly in the pre-season and hopefully start the season well.”

Referring back to his initial point, Dalot looks ahead to pre-season, where he will be able to witness, yet again, just how far United's support stretches.

“It’s always exciting, as soon as we finish our holiday, to start again with this club and see the supporters that we all love from all over the world.

“We’re [going to] some great countries, with a lot of Man United fans there, so we’re looking forward to seeing them.

“Last time we had a pre-season, we went to Perth, so I’ve been there with the squad. I’ve never been to Melbourne or Bangkok, but they are some great places, so I’m looking forward to playing there.”
