Manchester United are set to kick off their fourth pre-season friendly against Aston Villa, with the line-ups for both teams confirmed ahead of the fixture.

The match will be United’s first since travelling to Perth where they will be playing in the Optus Stadium.

Erik ten Hag’s side have been in good form so far, beating Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and most recently Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

Speaking after the Palace game, Ten Hag said: “It’s pre-season. We are happy with the improvement we see, but there’s also a lot of work to do.

“But, we scored some wonderful goals, that’s also true."

The Reds will be looking to continue on their upwards trajectory as the first game of the Premier League season against Brighton gets closer.

Ten Hag has been quite consistent with his starting XI throughout pre-season with multiple changes happening at half-time. Against Crystal Palace however only one change occurred at the interval, with the rest coming in the 65th minute.

We could see more of the same against Villa as Ten Hag ramps up preparations for the start of the season.

Manchester United’s front three of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho have been working well throughout the tour.

All three players were on the scoresheet against Crystal Palace, after each enduring difficult campaigns last season. However, it seems that Ten Hag has been able to get them clicking at the top of the pitch.

Martial’s performances have been particularly inspiring for United fans due to the uncertainty around Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.
