Manchester United £50 Million Target Will NOT Leave Club, Agent Confirms

Manchester United are chasing a defender this summer, but one target has been taken out of the race after his agent's recent comments.

Manchester United centre-back target Alessandro Bastoni will not leave Inter Milan, despite reports of United enquiring for the player, after his agent's most recent comments.

A price point for the player was put at around £50 million, but it now seems highly unlikely that he will be leaving Italy this summer.

Bastoni is one of the world’s highest rated centre backs in his age bracket and strong interest has been shown by fellow Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.

Manchester United's defensive issues have been apparent over the last few years, and despite purchasing Raphael Varane from Real Madrid last summer, there are still issues.

The Frenchman has been impressive when he's played, but has also suffered injury problems since his move to England, meaning he hasn't been able to get into a rhythm.

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire's form was terrible last season, and reports from Fabrizio Romano suggests that both Eric Bailly and Axel Tuanzebe will leave the club.

This makes the pursuit of a defender in the summer window make sense. However, it's looking unlikely that this player will be Bastoni.

It has now been confirmed by the player’s agent himself, Tullio Tinti, that the Italian will not be moving clubs this summer, as transcribed by Football Italia.

Bastoni will certainly remain at Inter,” Tint told reporters.

“He has a contract with Inter, he is happy to play at Inter and there's no problem." He said. "I respect contracts. If they call me, there's no problem."

If this was not enough, then the player himself seemed to validate his agents words through social media platform Instagram, commenting on a post by an Inter fan page with two heart emojis, the colours of which mirrored the famous black and blue colours of his club.

Bastoni appears more than happy at Inter and whilst his agent did suggest that he is open to a call from United, it would likely take an offer towards the higher end of the quoted price bracket to prise Bastoni away from the club as well as a lucrative wage package.

Whilst a blow it is yet another left footed centre back linked to the club, strongly suggesting that the profile is a priority for United in the transfer market for a defender this summer.
