Liverpool are reportedly being subjected to a never-before-seen transfer tactic by another club during negotiations over a summer signing.
Following Andoni Iraola’s arrival at Anfield, Liverpool’s football department is hard at work as it attempts to reshape the Premier League side’s squad this summer.
Stalwarts Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konaté and Andrew Robertson have already had their exits confirmed, while uncertainty surrounds the futures of Curtis Jones, Federico Chiesa and Cody Gakpo.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old French defender Jérémy Jacquet will soon link up with his new team-mates, having already agreed a £60 million move in February.

As expected, the Reds continue to be linked with several players from Iraola’s former club Bournemouth, with Alex Scott, Eli Junior Kroupi, Adrien Truffert and Rayan all mooted as potential signings.

The Merseyside club may also re-sign Jarell Quansah, with the player reportedly agreeing personal terms regarding a return after a season at Bayer Leverkusen.
RB Leipzig's Yan Diomande has also been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool, with the club looking to strengthen its left flank this summer.
Last week, The Athletic reported that Liverpool had already made contact regarding a move for the Ivory Coast international, who is under contract in Germany until 2030.
However, Leipzig insist he is not for sale and would only be willing to let him leave for around £112 million.
The winger is also attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain and has even admitted that his father supports the French champions.
Speaking last week, the 19-year-old was asked whether he would like to represent PSG, to which he replied: "Yeah, I like them a lot."
RB Leipzig employ Yan Diomande transfer tactic
Since then, journalist Ben Jacobs has claimed Leipzig’s asking price for Diomande has increased.
"The asking price is now above €100m (£86.3m)," he told Market Madness.
"Leipzig seem to be adding about €1m a day, and the reason they're doing that is because they want an answer from Diomande first.
"Until they get an answer as to whether he's going to sign a new deal, Leipzig's intention is to keep the price as high as possible in order to buy time and stall any potential deal.
"As soon as Diomande says he's either staying or going, Leipzig will either settle his future and there'll be no move this summer or, at the opposite extreme, they'll realise the player wants to leave and the overall package will likely come down a little."
Addressing PSG's interest, Jacobs added: "PSG also like Diomande and, were he to join the French side, there is a scenario in which Bradley Barcola becomes available.
"He's not really getting game time on the left because of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, while Désiré Doué appears to be starting all the big games too, so Liverpool could potentially turn their attention to Barcola.
"Barcola is also very high on Liverpool's shortlist, but Diomande remains their number one target.
"They've made progress on the player side, so there is cautious optimism within Liverpool that Diomande would like to join, despite giving an interview only a few weeks ago in which he spoke about his love for PSG. For now, it's Liverpool versus PSG in the race for Diomande."
