Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz went to war on two occasions but when they 'met' at a fans' meet and greet in 2016 the Stockton Slugger was still very hospitable.

Diaz is big news in UFC again his comeback and then fight with Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244, where he lost in a fight for the BMF title, but before his return to the octagon his most recent fight had been in 2016 against McGregor.

The two men enjoyed a great rivalry across two fights but before that second one Diaz met a McGregor impersonator and their interaction was very typical of the Stockton Slugger.

The fake 'Notorious' asks "Nate, can I get a photo man?" before the American responds "You are hilarious. Get the f**k out of here. Dude, get the f**k."

McGregor was meant to face Rafael dos Anjos for the UFC lightweight title in March 2016 but the champion had to pull out with injury.

He was replaced at the last minute by Diaz, on just 13 days notice, with the pair fighting at welterweight. Despite the short notice it was the American who won the fight, ending the Irishman's unbeaten run in UFC and tapping him out.

The rematch took place just five months later in August 2016, after Diaz had met the impersonator, with McGregor exacting revenge in another classic fight.

At UFC 202 the fight went the full five rounds but the former two weight UFC champ McGregor took the win on a majority decision.

California native Diaz then went on a three year hiatus from the sport but returned in August this year to beat Anthony Pettis.

He soon set up his BMF title fight with Jorge Masvidal at UFC 244, which was controversially stopped by the doctor after three round.

With Dana White ruling out a rematch from UFC 244 for the foreseeable future it first looked like Diaz had retired on social media, before he came out and clarified he hadn't hung up the gloves.

That 'retirement' mixed in with another social media post where he suggested 'Gamebreed' didn't want to continue their fight have looked less like his own post fight tactics and more like that of McGregor.

With the Dubliner also preparing his comeback from over a year out could the trilogy fight be around the corner?
