Nate Diaz says 'it's inevitable' that trilogy fight with Conor McGregor happens

Nate Diaz says 'it's inevitable' that trilogy fight with Conor McGregor happens

Fans have been clamouring for a rubber fight since their second fight all the way back in 2016.

Nate Diaz is already planning a return to the UFC ahead of his blockbuster fight with Jake Paul.

The MMA star recently finished up with the UFC in order to pursue other ventures - the first being a professional boxing match with the controversial influencer.

It’s a bit of a changeup from what we’re used to seeing from Diaz, who seems a bit out of place in the world of YouTube-boxing.

However, with as long as a tenure as he’s had in combat sports, he’s more than deserving of a hefty payday.

Make no mistake about it, for Diaz this isn’t one last hurrah before going off into the sunset, he’s intent on going back to fight in the Octagon.

And there’s one fight in particular that everyone wants to see and Diaz believes will happen.

Conor McGregor and the Stockton Brawler are tied at one win a piece in perhaps the greatest rivalry in UFC history.

Fans have been clamouring for a rubber fight since their second fight all the way back in 2016.

Of course, there have been a few hurdles in the way since with McGregor out with an injury for almost three years and now Diaz in the world of boxing.

However, the popular welterweight is positive that the third fight will happen.

He told MMA Junkie: “I don’t think about it like that, but regardless of that, I would like to get the third fight with Conor.

“I think it’s inevitable. For sure, we’ll be fighting.”

The Irishman is back in the world of the UFC as one of the coaches for the upcoming series of The Ultimate Fighter 31.

He is looking set to face his opposition coach Michael Chandler at some point this year.

It was heavily rumoured that Diaz was set to be the coach across from McGregor in the series, a rumour which the California-native confirmed.

He explained: “They did (approach me), but I never wanted to do The Ultimate Fighter.

“I wasn’t interested in doing that.”

Chandler would end up being picked as the coach, and is someone that Diaz holds in high regard.

He said: “Chandler is real tough and explosive and crazy young guy.

“I don’t know how old he is, but I think Conor is better than Chandler. But Chandler, you’re great, too.”
