UFC has dropped another spine-tingling promo for Conor McGregor's return fight against Donald Cerrone.

McGregor will make his highly anticipated UFC comeback on January 18 when he faces Cerrone in a welterweight bout at UFC 246 in Las Vegas.

And ahead of the Irishman making his walk to the famed Octagon, UFC has released a brand spanking new video hyping up his clash with Cerrone.

The trailer begins with McGregor tapping to Khabib Nurmagomedov's neck crank during their UFC 229 clash, then Joe Rogan explaining his defeat before highlighting his controversial incidents outside of the cage.

The second half of the promo showcases McGregor and Cerrone's best moments in the UFC and their fiery exchanges in the past.

McGregor's bout with Cerrone will mark his first fight since his devastating submission defeat to Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 back in October 2018.

And UFC president Dana White has explained why the 31-year-old superstar asked for his match-up against 'Cowboy' to take place at welterweight.

"I don't think anybody cares at all," White said. "I think what everyone is looking at, what Conor wants to do is fight at 170, because he doesn't believe Tony vs Khabib is going to happen. He thinks something is going to happen and he wants to slide into that spot.

"Conor McGregor wouldn't have to cut weight twice like that, so, and he knew that if he offered 170, Cerrone would love that too. Cerrone doesn't have to cut weight. And he also wants that 170lbs fight because he also told me 'I'm looking at Masvidal, too.'"
