Jorge Masvidal Picked Out Fans And Had Them Fight Each Other During His Open Workout

Masvidal invited fans to fight each other rather than working out on stage.

Jorge Masvidal's open workout involved picking random people out of the public to come up on stage and fight each other.

Masvidal faces Nate Diaz on Saturday for the BMF title at UFC 244 and ahead of making his walk to the Octagon, the Miami-slugger picked out fans and had them spar each other during his open workout.

Fans went toe-to-toe in "light" sparring sessions with only body shots allowed.

But his impromptu fights were eventually shut down by UFC executive Reed Harris who put a halt to Masvidal's antics.

Meanwhile, the bout appeared to be in jeopardy last week when Diaz had failed a drug test, but the Stockton-fighter has since been cleared to fight in New York.

And speaking on the media call, Masvidal detailed his initial reaction to the news: "That was fucking nuts, you know?" He said. "I was like, 'What the fuck? Nah, that's Photoshopped.' I digged a little harder, and it wasn't Photoshopped.

"A little bit of anxiety came. Not anxiety in the sense I thought Nate was a cheater, because I never thought he was a cheater. Just the uncertainty like, 'They might pull my fight because of some lab screw-up? Because of some weird-ass shit?' I don't want to diss on USADA, either, because I think they've cleaned up a lot of the sport, but it's not 100 percent right yet.

"By Day No. 2, anxiety hit," Masvidal added. "About two pizzas later and hot fries and other things I shouldn't have put in my body, the coaching staff got a hold of me to calm the anxiety down. We went about business. When I get anxiety and depression and things like that, I take to eating."
