UFC legend Georges St-Pierre has claimed that he "tried everything" in his power to make a dream super-fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov happen.
Khabib, 31, has been a long-time admirer of 'GSP' and is currently targeting a mega-fight with the former two-division champ in April 2021.
However, 'GSP' has now made a bombshell claim that UFC turned down the opportunity to book the fight two years ago.

"Two years ago before I retired, we tried to make that fight happen, and we tried everything," he told The Sun.
"Khabib was interested, I was interested but the UFC was not and said clearly that they had other plans for Khabib and it was two years ago.
"In business, when you make an offer and the person refuses, you move on. I didn't put my life on pause, I had other projects and I couldn't do that. I had to keep working and keep living my life.

"In business, you can't go back after two years and say, 'Hey, the offer that I refused two years ago now I accept, I want to do it.'
"I don't say that I would refuse but they have not made an offer to me. They have not come out saying, 'Hey, we want you to have that fight.'
"Right now people get excited about nothing and I can't stop my life thinking that this thing will happen."

St-Pierre retired from MMA in 2019 and hasn't fought since his stunning comeback victory over Michael Bisping at UFC 217 in 2017.

'GSP' has hailed the undefeated Russian star as the "best fighter on the face of the Earth" ahead of the likes of Jon Jones, Stipe Miocic and Conor McGregor.
However, the MMA legend has insisted that he hasn't received any offers to fight Khabib and doesn't believe the UFC will push for the fight.
"I have doubts and I haven't received any offers. And I don't think for the UFC it's in their best interest for me to go fight," he explained.

"I think they would like to keep the ball rolling inside the organisation because they know if I fight it would be my last one.
"They would probably prefer to have a guy like Conor McGregor or another guy who's an active fighter fighting Khabib if Khabib wins against Justin Gaethje."
Khabib makes his sensational return to the octagon in his unification bout with Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 on 24th October.
