Conor McGregor has wasted no time in sending a warning to Charles Oliveira after the Brazilian UFC fighter won the lightweight championship.

Oliveira, 31, secured the vacated UFC strap on Saturday with a brutal TKO victory over Michael Chandler in their UFC 262 main-event clash.

Do Bronx collided with Chandler in an epic opening round at the Toyota Center before connecting with a pair of left hooks in the second to send his opponent to the octagon mat.

The newly-crowned lightweight champ followed up with a flurry of strikes to claim victory in the UFC 262 showdown.

Not long after Oliveira's win, McGregor took to social media to congratulate him on becoming the 11th fighter to hold the UFC lightweight title.

However, the 32-year-old Irishman then teased fans by asking who would be the 12th champion amid a strong hint at wanting to fight Oliveira for the title.

McGregor tweeted to his 8.7m Twitter followers: "Congrats to Olivera on becoming the 11th UFC lightweight champion. Wonder who Twelve [sic] is..."

The MMA superstar made his return to the lightweight division in January during his devastating second-round TKO defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 257.

McGregor is scheduled to face Poirier in a rematch at UFC 264 on 10th July, with a potential victory putting him in the title picture to face Oliveira.

Speaking after his UFC 262 win over Chandler, Oliveira insisted that he "proved to everybody I'm the lion of lions."

The lightweight champ explained: "I told you I was going to knock him out, and I came and knocked him out.

"I proved to everybody I'm the lion of lions."
