Gina Carano has shown off her physique ahead of her comeback MMA bout against UFC icon Ronda Rousey, with the 44-year-old revealing how she lost 100lbs ahead of the fight.

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Rousey, who last fought in 2016, will return to the Octagon after almost a decade away when she faces fellow legend Carano at the Intuit Dome in California on Saturday (May 16).

Both women weighed in under the featherweight limit, with Rousey tipping the scales at 142lb (10st 2lb), while Carano weighed 141.4lb (10st 1.4lb).

The duo looked in remarkable shape ahead of the contest, with Carano later taking to X to reveal that she had lost 100lbs (7 st 2lb) between September 2024 and May 15, 2026.

Accompanying a photograph of herself in a bikini, she explained how she was “pre-diabetic” and had “trouble simply walking” before transforming herself back into an athlete.

She wrote: “It was hard, SO damn hard. There was so much to learn, too much to unpack here — ups, downs, plateaus, things I learned late that I wish I’d learned earlier, trial and error — but I did it. Thank you to Ronda, who waited patiently while I lost this weight and gave me something to aim for.

“There is still so much I need to learn and want to do in the health space, and to continue transforming my body, but for today I thank God, my husband and my family for sticking with me and encouraging me the whole way. I pray this encourages you wherever you are in your health journey.

“Believe there is hope. Never give up. OK, enough emo — I’ve got a fight tomorrow. We’ve worked so hard to get here. Tune in!!”

Carano was widely considered the face of women’s MMA during the mid-2000s, with the American going on a seven-fight winning streak between June 2006 and October 2008 before losing by TKO to Cris Cyborg in 2009.

Following her retirement, she embarked on a career as an actor, starring in notable films and series including Fast & Furious 6, Deadpool and the Star Wars spin-off The Mandalorian.

The fight is promoted by Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) and will be broadcast live on Netflix.
