Ronnie O'Sullivan is finally set to return to table after a two month spell on the sidelines.

It has now been nearly two months since popular snooker star O'Sullivan last competed during the Saudi Arabia Snooker Masters in early August.

Having won everything there is to win in the sport, the 49-year-old has taken a scaled-back approach to the snooker calendar this year.

Since his last appearance, the Englishman has pulled out of three consecutive tournaments on medical grounds, leading to questions over when he will next play.

But it now appears we finally have our answer, as O'Sullivan looks ready to play in an upcoming competition taking place in just a couple of days time.

From October 7th to the 13th, the Xi'an Grand Prix will take place in China's Qujiang Sports Complex, with several of snooker's best players set to compete.

And it is here that O'Sullivan is set to make his comeback, with the schedule currently listing his first match as being a meeting with Ukraine's Iulian Boiko on the opening day.

Having moved to Dubai earlier this year, it is likely that O'Sullivan's decision to compete in Xi'an, China is likely due it being much closer to his new home than the events he has recently pulled out of.

Following the Xi'an Grand Prix, it appears that O'Sullivan plans to stay active in the coming months, as he recently confirmed his future plans in the buildup to the World Championship in April.

Speaking to talkSPORT, he said: "I'll probably do the next two events in China (International Championship and Xi'an Grand Prix) and then there is another event in Saudi Arabia after that."

However, the snooker legend also confirmed that, while he does intend to return to the UK in the neat future, he currently has no plans to compete in the Masters in January.

"I am planning to come back for the UK Championship in York in November, but I probably won't play in the Masters in the new year," he added.

"The jet lag crucifies me when I come back to be honest, and it's not as easy to play in those tournaments over there as it would be if I was living there still, you know.

"So I will do the UK Championship and hopefully the Tour Championship, which I am hoping to qualify for, and, of course, the World Championships, which would be a nice one to win!"
