Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow dies after brave motor neurone disease battle

Rob Burrow has died aged 41 after battling motor neurone disease, an illness he helped raise awareness for.

Leeds Rhinos legend Rob Burrow has passed away aged 41 after a brave battle with motor neurone disease, it has been confirmed.

Burrow, who had a decorated 17-year career in rugby league, was diagnosed in 2019 - two years after he retired from the game.

He lived with the disease for five years and helped raise awareness in a bid to help find a cure.

In 2021, Burrow was handed an MBE for both his services to sport and his fundraising work - before it was then upgraded to a CBE.

Leeds announced his passing on Sunday evening, hailing him as "a true inspiration throughout his life whether that was on the rugby league field or during his battle with MND".
