Before Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor slug it out for the UFC lightweight title, newly-minted welterweight champion Tyron Woodley begins his reign as champion facing striking sensation Stephen 'Wonderboy' Thompson in the co-main event. Woodley scored a stunning first-round knockout over Robbie Lawler taking just over two minutes to finish 'Ruthless' Robbie.
The narrative of the bout was intensified with the pair enjoying an extensive history of training during their time at the famed American Top Team academy but despite this they were matched up at UFC 201 in July. Woodley entered the bout extremely loose and composed, feinting to get Lawler to drop his defences before uncorking a brutal overhand-right.

The speed of the punch caught Lawler flush on the chin plummeting to the canvas as Woodley followed up with a number of unanswered vicious blows ending the fight. Subsequently recording the fastest finish in UFC welterweight title fight history.
After missing out on the Strikeforce belt, Woodley finally got his hands on gold becoming the UFC welterweight champion. The 34-year-old is riding a three-fight win streak including two 'Performance of the Night' outings as the Ferguson-native prepares for his toughest opponent to date.
