Jos Verstappen walked away unhurt after his car was left upside down following a horror crash during the Rallye de Wallonie.
Verstappen, the father of four-time Formula 1 world champion Max, still competes regularly in rallying events.
The Dutchman, now 54, raced in F1 between 1994 and 2003 and won the Belgian Rally Championship in 2025.
On Sunday, he competed in the Rallye de Wallonie, a stage in the FIA-licensed European Rally Championship which takes place in Belgium.

According to local reports, his Skoda car collided with a tree and caused a violent accident.
Video footage uploaded to social media showed Verstappen's car upside down by the side of the course, with various pieces of bodywork and tyres strewed out across the track.
Verstappen's car can be seen striking the edge of a tree as he lost control, which fell and blocked the circuit.
The 54-year-old was able to extract himself from the car and walked away unhurt from the crash, with the organisers posting to Facebook that he had suffered 'a violent crash that sent his Skoda into a roll'.
Verstappen explained to the championship's official Instagram channel: "It was a right-hand bend that I had to take in fourth gear. It was dusty, there was gravel on the surface.
"I think I went into the corner a bit too fast, and at the end of the corner, the car broke away.
"Then we hit a post. The post whipped the car around, and then we landed on the roof."
Max has previously described his father's rallying exploits as 'really impressive', but explained why he would never follow him into that particular discipline of motorsport once he is done with F1.
"I think it's really cool, but I just think about if I make a mistake and I hit that tree," he said. "I mean the tree is not moving. That, for me, is my limit.
"That, for me, is something that I don't want to do. It's just too high of a risk.
"And I know that sounds maybe a bit silly, but in Formula 1 at least or most of the time, when you crash, there is a barrier. Like a properly designed barrier that should absorb the impact a bit more.
"It's a bit different in my head at least."
