I'm A Celeb's best and worst-paid stars with Coleen Rooney set to receive 'highest fee ever'

Rooney is one of 10 contestants in this year's I'm A Celebrity - but how much have previous contestants earned?

Coleen Rooney is reportedly set to become I'm A Celebrity's highest-paid star once the 2024 series ends - but who else has been a high earner from the programme?

Rooney, 38, is one of the 10 original campmates for this year's show, alongside the likes of Tulisa, Alan Halsall, Danny Jones and GK Barry.

In the opening days in camp, she has already opened up on the court case with Rebekah Vardy dubbed 'Wagatha Christie', and received a pillow with a picture of her children and husband Wayne Rooney.

It was claimed on an episode of Lorraine - also an ITV show - that Coleen would be earning £1.5 million during her time on the show.

Here's how that compares to other contestants in previous years.

I'm A Celebrity chiefs splashed out £1.5 million to controversially bring Nigel Farage into the jungle in 2023.

The 60-year-old, who became the MP for Clacton earlier this year, did admit in an ITV interview that the money was 'of course' the key factor behind his decision to do the show - and that it was 'the biggest paycheck I have ever had'. Farage reached the final and finished in third place.

  • Noel Edmonds - £600,000

Noel Edmonds was the highest-paid contestant ever when he entered the jungle as a late arrival in 2018.

The Deal or No Deal host was popular among some fans but not others, and he ended up being the first celebrity voted out just 12 days after his arrival.

A year after Edmonds' stint in the Australian jungle, ITV bosses went big again by spending £500,000 on Caitlyn Jenner.

The former Olympic gold medalist and reality star did fare better, finishing in sixth place behind the likes of Nadine Coyle, Andy Whyment and eventual winner Jacqueline Jossa.

Former Tottenham and Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp was signed for the same fee in 2018. He was one of the show's biggest success stories, topping every public vote and winning the show comfortably.

And Culture Club singer Boy George also accepted a £500,000 offer to enter the jungle. He lasted 18 days on the show and finished in eighth place in 2022.

I'm A Celebrity: Lowest-paid contestants

Made in Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo was reportedly the lowest-paid contestant ever when she entered the jungle in 2017, signing up for £13,000.

However, she proved popular with the public and, like Redknapp a year later, topped every public vote and won the show. Toffolo returned when the show went to South Africa in 2023.

  • Malique Thompson-Dwyer - £15,000

Hollyoaks actor Malique Thompson-Dwyer was the second contestant eliminated, after Noel Edmonds, in 2018.

He was paid £15,000 to appear on the show, it was reported. The 25-year-old left Hollyoaks in 2019 but has since returned in a regular role.

  • Jordan Banjo and Myles Stephenson - £25,000

Diversity star Jordan Banjo was part of the I'm A Celebrity cast in 2016, becoming the fourth contestant to exit the show.

And RakSu band member Myles Stephenson was reportedly paid the same fee as Banjo - £25,000 - before finishing seventh in the 2019 edition.
