Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather features in a list of the top five biggest reported sports bets ever placed.

Mayweather has accumulated a mouth-watering amount of money during his historic undefeated boxing career, last year, Celebrity Net Worth estimated his net worth at a staggering $450 million.

'Money' has also been regularly known to place gigantic bets on sports such as boxing and NFL.

During last year's Super Bowl, he posted two images to his Instagram which showed the boxing icon wagering $10,000 twice on two different match outcomes.

But what is Mayweather's highest recorded bet, and where does it rank in the highest reported sports bets ever placed? Check below to find out (all data and figures via BossAction and Daily Star).

5) Charles Barkley - 2002 Super Bowl - New England Patriots to win (£647,000)

NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley revealed on an episode of 'The Seth Davis Show' in 2022 (via Essentially Sports) that he had given up gambling for two years after losing several millions of dollars in Las Vegas.

In 2002, it was reported that Barkley had placed a bet on the New England Patriots to win that year's Super Bowl. Spearheaded by Tom Brady, the Patriots did defeat St Louis Rams 20-17.

4) Anonymous - 2018 Super Bowl - Philadelphia Eagles to win (£1.2 million)

The fourth-highest recorded sports bet came from an anonymous source.

It was also on the Super Bowl, with the anonymous bettor taking to Las Vegas to back Philadelphia Eagles to defeat New England Patriots. The Eagles got the job done, winning 40-31 to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

3) 'Vegas Dave' Oancea - 2015 World Series - Kansas City Royals to win (£2 million)

'Vegas Dave' Oancea, a well-known sports betting consultant in betting circles, once reportedly launched a huge $2 million bet on Kansas City Royals to win Major League Baseball's World Series.

Despite being heavy outsider, the Royals did go on to secure the World Series for just the second time in the franchise's history and their first in 30 years, beating New York Mets 4-1.

2) Billy Walters - 2010 Super Bowl - New Orleans Saints to win (£2.8 million)

The second-highest reported sports bet was placed by another well-known figure within betting circles, Billy Walters.

He is said to have placed £2.8 million on New Orleans Saints to triumph in the 2010 Super Bowl. After recording the joint-best NFC record during the regular season and winning through the play-offs, the Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 in Miami to lift the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

1) Floyd Mayweather - 2014 Super Bowl - Denver Broncos to win (£8 million)

The highest recorded sports bet of all-time is another Super Bowl wager - and it came from none other than Mayweather.

The boxing legend is reported to have placed £8 million on Denver Broncos to win the Super Bowl in 2014. Unfortunately for the Broncos and Mayweather, however, they suffered a 43-8 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks - the first time in Super Bowl history that a team has scored over 40 points whilst limiting the other to under 10.
