A 60-second Super Bowl advert featuring an MLS superstar could cost around $14million (£11million), a report has revealed.

Inter Miami superstar Lionel Messi has taken America by storm since moving to the MLS last summer and is now set to appear in a Super Bowl advert for Michelob Ultra.

The beer brand's parent company Anheuser-Busch are also sponsoring this summer's Copa America tournament.

They are also expected to be a sponsor at the men's World Cup in 2026 which takes place in the USA - with Messi and Argentina defending champions.

A teaser trailer revealed Messi walking up to a bar, ordering a beer and reacting to it being poured.

Super Bowl advertising spots are notoriously expensive given the amount of people that watch the game, and the ad could cost around £11million, according to The Mail.

The biggest game in the NFL takes place on February 11, and this weekend's Conference Championship games will decide which teams get to take part.

Meanwhile in the MLS pre-season is underway, with Messi's Inter Miami due to play twice in Saudi Arabia next week, including a clash against Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr.

The duo last faced each other in a friendly in 2023, but their most recent competitive game and potentially last ever was four years ago.

It's unclear whether Messi will be in attendance at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, but Inter Miami's pre-season schedule would allow for him to be present.

Their final pre-season game is on February 15 when they play Messi's boyhood club Newell's Old Boys.

When it comes to sports marketing Messi is one of the best you can get, with nearly 500million followers on Instagram and a history of working with some huge brands.

The Super Bowl is perhaps the biggest advertising stage in the world with an expected audience reach of more than 100 million.
