The Democratic Party have mocked US President Donald Trump after he announced the creation of the 'Patriot Games'.
Trump confirmed in a video message on Twitter that the planned event will be part of the United States' 250th anniversary celebrations during 2026.
The President described the Games as an 'unprecedented four-day athletic event featuring the greatest high school athletes: one young man and one young woman from each state and territory'.
He added: "But I promise there will be no men playing in women's sports. You're not going to see that. You'll see everything but that."

It isn't entirely clear as to what the 'Patriot Games' will actually entail - or what the criteria will be for entering it - but the President has already been mocked by some sections of social media.
Some have compared his plans to 'The Hunger Games', while others have questioned how Trump would react if a high-school athlete from a Democratic-voting state was to win.
The Democrats themselves have joined in, with their official Twitter account posting a clip from 'The Hunger Games' series alongside the caption: "And so it was decreed that, each year, the various districts of Panem would offer up, in tribute, one young man and woman to fight to the death in a pageant of honor, courage and sacrifice (The Hunger Games, 2012)."
It isn't the only major decision Trump has taken this week.
The White House announced that the Kennedy Center - named in honour of former President John F. Kennedy - would be renamed the Trump-Kennedy Center.
Trump said he was 'surprised' and 'honoured' by the decision - despite, according to BBC News, having previously fired the entire board of directors at the Kennedy Center and replaced them with his own allies, who voted for him to become chairman.
