Angry Ginge will have to follow a new rule after being voted to do the first Bushtucker Trial on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!.

On Sunday night, the much-anticipated new series of I'm A Celeb got underway on ITV.

Hosted by popular duo Ant and Dec, the new set of celebrities were thrown into the deep end straight away as they embarked on challenges to win luxury beds.

Having dealt with the creepy crawlies, Angry Ginge, along with Aitch, Eddie Kadi, and Jack Osbourne, were the ones who managed to win the luxury beds in camp, with the others settling for hammocks and normal camp sleeping arrangements.

At the end of the first episode, Angry Ginge, whose real name is Morgan Burtwistle, was voted by the public to do the first trial, along with Ruby Wax.

The pair will be taking on an eating trial named The Divey, a play on the popular restaurant chain, The Ivy.

Having been voted to do the first trial, a new rule could soon apply to both Angry Ginge and Wax.

According to the Daily Mail, it was claimed before the new series that if a celebrity has been voted for two trials in a row, they are automatically exempt from the following lot.

A source told the publication: "It will be really good for the show. When celebrities get voted over and over again, it can be quite upsetting for them, the public gets bored or annoyed and the other contestants were becoming increasingly frustrated at missing out on air time."

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for ITV stated: "Celebrities all want the opportunity to take on a Bushtucker Trial and bring home stars for camp.

"Viewers would much prefer to see different celebrities take on the iconic Bushtucker Trials as opposed to the same person every day."

It has been suggested that the rule was brought in to stop the public 'targeting' certain contestants.

During the 2024 series of I'm A Celeb, BBC radio host Dean McCullough was voted for seven consecutive trials, leading to host Ant McPartlin saying: "Who’s still voting for Dean, I don’t get it."

Actor Adam Thomas is the current holder of the record for most trials contested, having done 12 when he entered the jungle back in 2016.

I'm A Celeb continues on ITV at 9pm on Monday night.
