The NFL fan involved in a shock altercation with Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf has explained what prompted the reaction.
Metcalf was in action for the Steelers on Sunday night as they ran out 29-24 win over Detroit Lions at Ford Field.
But the 28-year-old was involved in the game's controversial moment in the second quarter when he approached a fan who was loitering at the bottom of the stands.
Footage from the television broadcast and fan footage showed Metcalf grabbing the Lions fan's blue wig in an aggressive manner.

He then appeared to lash out at the supporter and made some contact, stunning the commentators who predicted that Metcalf's actions would have huge consequences.
With officials failing to see the incident when it happened, Metcalf remained in the game for its duration and completed four catches for 42 yards.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he "hadn't seen it" and "hadn't had an opportunity" to speak to Metcalf about what happened.
However, the fan, identified and named as Ryan Kennedy from Pinckney, Michigan, has spoken out and claimed that the former Seattle Seahawks star reacted so angrily because he had called him by his full name - DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf.

He told the Detroit Free Press: "My words don’t matter because it was on camera. He doesn’t like his government name. I called him that, and then he grabbed me and ripped my shirt. I'm a little shocked. Like everyone's talking to me. I'm a little rattled, but I just want the Lions to win, baby."

NFL issued statement on Metcalf incident
Despite a discussion with Lions officials, the fan was not escorted out.
The NFL statement explained that they could not intervene in any capacity, commenting: "There was no flag on the field, so New York cannot weigh in with regard to a potential disqualification."
However he could well be punished retrospectively going forward in the form of a fine or suspension.
Metcalf is yet to break his silence on the matter but in the past he told Brendan Howe about the backstory of his name, explaining: "Anybody that knows me truly, they call me DeKaylin or Kaylin. Anybody else, they just call me DK."
He added that he used to be referred to as his father's name, which annoyed him.
Shannon Sharpe reacted to the situation on the Nightcap podcast with Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson and was unsure about the fan's version and admission of what was said.
“I think the guy was giving his side of it and he said all he did was call him by his government name, and I’m like, ‘I’m sure a lot of people call him (by that),” Sharpe stated.
“I said, ‘That’s a strong overreaction for someone to call you (by) your government name.’ … I’m sure somebody that was close by would’ve heard what he said. It’s gonna come out.”
The Steelers are back in action on Sunday when they take on the Cleveland Browns at Huntington Bank Field.
