Kelvin Banks Jr's baby goes viral at NFL Draft as ESPN cameras pick up unfortunate moment on live TV

Kelvin Banks Jr is a first round pick for the New Orleans Saints and his big moment went viral for a reason he probably saw coming but the rest of the world did not.

The NFL Draft 2025 got underway on Thursday and the roster-building has begun amid the flashbulbs and furore of sport's greatest admin meeting.

It was widely reported that the Tennessee Titans would use their number one overall pick to grab University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward and they did exactly that.

The next QB to go was Jaxson Dart to the New York Giants, while the second and third picks respectively were cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter to the Jacksonville Jaguars and defensive end Abdul Carter, also to the Giants.

Banks Jr, an offensive tackle, was drafted into the NFL as the ninth pick overall but his headlines were stolen by an unexpected distraction.

As the 21-year-old's name was announced, the ESPN television broadcast switched to his draft party at home to capture the celebrations.

Banks Jr's infant son, Khalil, was in the arms of his jubilant mother and apparently unprepared for the subtle abdominal undulations that come with being held by an applauding adult.

The rookie's first seconds in the NFL were upstaged by a vomiting Khalil, presumably to no surprise whatsoever on the part of his parents.

Saints sideline reporter Jeff Nowak posted on X, formerly Twitter, that Banks Jr headed straight for the social platform to see what fans were saying about Banks Jr Jr's viral exploits after Khalil decorated his mother, Demetria, with his dinner.

There, he discovered an army of hilarious wags suggesting that Khalil didn't think New Orleans was the right fit.

Texas-born Banks was named as the best lineman in college football in 2024, just one of a pile of individual awards he already has to his name, but was in fact the third OT selected in the draft.

The Saints missed the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season in 2024, posting a 5-12 record.

Head coach Dennis Allen paid the price, losing his job in November and later being replaced by first-time head coach Kellen Moore.

The NFL Draft 2025 continues.
