Alexandre Lacazette Will Ask International Teammate To Join Arsenal

Arsenal may have slightly rehabilitated themselves from their 4-0 embarrassment at Anfield at the end of August, with six wins in seven games in all competitions, but even a recent run of good form still can't hide the fact that Arsene Wenger's squad is still in desperate need of strengthening.

And Alexandre Lacazette thinks he has the solution to the problem.

During a recent interview with Match Of The Day magazine, the Gunners' most expensive ever player, who set the club back £52 million when he arrived from Lyon, this summer, revealed that he would ask one of his international teammates to join him at the Emirates Stadium.

In fact, the player in question was long term Manchester United target and Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.

"If he visits me in London, I'm going to ask him to sign for Arsenal. We're very good friends and have lots of fun. Our nicknames for each other are Griezzy and Lacaz."

While Griezmann and Lacazette's nicknames for each other may possibly be the least creative thing the football world has seen since Stewart Downing's spell at Liverpool, they could be serious cause for Arsenal fans to get at least a tiny bit excited.

With Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil both expected to leave the North London club at some point in the next nine months, Arsene Wenger is on the lookout for new creative outlets, having failed with a £90 million deadline day deal for Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, Griezmann would provide a perfect antidote to the creative void that will be left in the Chilean and German's likely departures.

The French forward was expected to move to Old Trafford this past summer, but United switched their attentions to needing a number nine once Zlatan Ibrahimovic was ruled out as a long term casualty with an ACL tear, in April. Griezmann then stated that he would remain with Atletico Madrid while the La Liga giants were under their UEFA enforced transfer embargo, which will expire in January.

Given the form of Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, so far this season, it's possible Jose Mourinho may no longer see Griezmann as a must have signing, thus opening the door for Wenger to make a play for the former Real Sociedad man.

And in Lacazette, he may have the secret weapon which can further help convince Griezmann to trade the Spanish capital for North London.
