NFL Fan Stopped from Winning $1million Prize by One Yard

One bettor was denied a huge payout during the Tampa Bay Buccaneers match.

An unfortunate NFL fan was denied a huge $1 million payout by just one yard after a dramatic incident.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers continued their strong start to the campaign with a 23-3 victory over the New Orleans Saints.

It leaves them with a record of six wins and two defeats, even if their performance against the Saints was far from their best.

One player who caught the eye for the Buccaneers was Cade Otton, who caught four of five targets for 40 yards.

The tight end came agonisingly close to scoring a touchdown on their first drive after half-time, catching the ball on the run, then making 21 yards into the endzone.

The play was initially called a touchdown.

However, after the referees reviewed the replay, they concluded that the ball had not crossed the goal line and was placed at the one-yard line.

Although the decision was frustrating for Otton, it was arguably even more agonising for one NFL fan, who was denied a $1 million payout by just one yard.

An image circulating on social media showed that the individual had staked $15.46 on a 16-leg Same Game Parlay +, which is an accumulator across matches.

But the only leg that failed was Otton to score an anytime touchdown during the match.

A betting account on X wrote: "This is the worst beat you will ever see in your life.

"Cade Otton anytime TD away from turning $15 into a million dollars. I'm sick."

While Tampa Bay are not considered among the favourites to make this year's Super Bowl, if they maintain their form, they look likely to make the playoffs.

Their defence impressed once again against the Saints, not allowing a single touchdown.

Quarterback Baker Mayfield had a mixed performance, completing 15 of 24 attempts for 152 yards but struggling on deep passes, not making any of his nine attempts.

A standout aspect of the Buccaneers' recent performances has been their defence.

They have now registered 15 sacks in their last three games, which is the joint-most with Denver during that period.

After the match, head coach Todd Bowles said: "It means they are starting to work together.

"They are working together, helping each other out, getting sacks and there [are] not any selfish sacks going on.

"People are setting people up, and people are taking double teams for other guys and that is good to see."

The Buccanners return to action at Raymond James Stadium on November 9 against the New England Patriots.
