Stephen Curry has signed an extremely lucrative one-year contract extension with Golden State Warriors.

Curry has ended speculation over his future by penning a new deal with the Warriors until 2027.

The staggering deal is worth a reported £47.5 million, meaning he will earn £135 million over the next three years, according to ESPN.

The NBA side took to social media to confirm the new contract.

On X, they wrote: "More history to make. More memories with #DubNation to come.

"The Warriors have signed Stephen Curry to a contract extension."

The 36-year-old also joins LeBron James, Paul George and Kevin Durant to surpass $500 million in career earnings.

At the end of his new deal, his career earnings with the Warrior will be over $532 million (£403 million) - only behind James ($580 million).

Curry, who has four NBA championships to his name, has spent his entire professional basketball career at the Warriors since the California-based outfit drafted him in 2009.

He's been vocal about his desire to stay with the Warriors and retire with them.

"I've always said I want to be a Warrior for life," he said in July. "At this stage in my career, I feel like that's possible."

That sentiment is echoed by general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr., who reckons Curry will be 'a Warrior for 'life'.

He said: "All that stuff will get figured out, and I think Steph will be - I'd say, pretty confident he'll be a Warrior for life."

In the 2021/22 season, Curry averaged 26.4 points on 40,8 per cent, 3-point shooting, 5.1 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game.

He'll be aiming to inspire the Warriors to another NBA triumph, having helped USA to Olympic gold following his stellar performances in Paris this summer.
