UFC superstar comes out of retirement ahead of potential UFC 300 return, two massive fights called for by fans

UFC superstar comes out of retirement ahead of potential UFC 300 return, two massive fights called for by fans

A UFC star has announced he's 'unretired'.

A UFC superstar has come out of retirement and could potentially feature on the blockbuster UFC 300 card.

UFC 300 is still being built ahead of the extravaganza on April 13, with the likes of Jiri Prochazka, Aljamain Sterling and Bo Nickal scheduled to feature on the bill.

UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards, who outclassed Colby Covington last month, is set to defend his title against former foe Belal Muhammad in one of the card's marque fights.

But it seems fight fans want 'Rocky' to face Jorge Masvidal instead following the star fighter's U-turn on his retirement.

He took to social media to announce his return to competition. On X, he wrote: "Unretired."

'Gamebred' called time on his MMA career eight months ago following his fourth UFC defeat in a row to Gilbert Burns.

Fans on social media want him to return to action against Edwards, having previously clashed with him backstage at UFC London in March 2019.

A rematch against Nate Diaz has also been called for by fans, with the Miami native boasting a victory in their BMF showdown back at UFC 244.

Nina Drama wrote: "The return of Jorge Masvidal at UFC 300 is SUPER NECESSARY!"

A second tweeted: "Imagine Leon Edwards vs. Jorge Masvidal for UFC 300."

A third added: "Book Masvidal vs Leon for UFC 300 asap."

A fourth said: "Is Jorge Masvidal coming back for UFC300 NATE Diaz rematch!?!?"

Another commented: "Is Leon Edwards about to avenge the '3 piece and a soda' moment backstage that we all been waiting for..."

Masvidal resurrected his career in 2019 with big wins over Darren Till, Ben Askren and Diaz.

He fought for the UFC title in consecutive bouts, losing twice to then-champion Kamaru Usman.

The 39-year-old then suffered defeats to arch-rival Colby Covington before succumbing to Burns at UFC 287 last April.

Though a comeback is on the cards, and it seems fans want him on the upcoming UFC 300 event.
