Viewers were left baffled when two UFC fighters entered the stage during the 83rd Golden Globes in Beverly Hills, California, on Sunday (January 11).
Timothee Chalamet was among the winners for his performance in Marty Supreme, while Wagner Mouro, Rose Byrne, and Teyana Taylor also collected prizes.
The 83rd Golden Globes in Beverly Hills recognised achievements in film, television, and, for the first time, featured a best podcast category.
As ever, the crowd gathered inside the Beverly Hilton was a who’s who of world-renowned stars, including Stephen Graham, Selena Gomez, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Midway through the show, UFC strawweight champion MacKenzie Dern and featherweight contender Brian Ortega took to the stage, having earlier been spotted on the red carpet together.
As they were introduced to the stage, the announcer said: “Our next presenters are so hot right now, they get mobbed everywhere they go. So we had to bring in some extra security from the UFC.”
The UFC stars then walked to the front of the stage clad in UFC-branded tracksuits, before not uttering a word and turning around before they left.
Fans were left baffled and took to social media to offer their thoughts.
One said: “Mackenzie Dern and Brian Ortega just walked out at the Golden Globes… for no reason whatsoever. That was bizarre.”

Another added: “Oh my god, that UFC/Golden Globes crossover was unbelievably cringeworthy.”
A third claimed: “My favourite part of the Golden Globes was when two people from UFC came out and stared at the crowd while strobe lights flashed for 10 seconds, and then they left, and the show continued.”
While a fourth commented: “What was the point of this?”
Despite the confusion, there was a valid reason for the bizarre segment.

The cameo was believed to be linked to the new $7 billion deal between CBS’s parent company, Paramount, and the UFC, with Paramount+ and CBS set to broadcast the UFC later this month.
UFC 324: Gaethje vs Pimblett will be the first numbered event of the UFC-Paramount+ era.
