Alvaro Morata's presentation at Leganes will go down as one of the worst in football history

Alvaro Morata joined Leganes in the Spanish second division this Friday, on a one-year loan from Como, and his presentation ceremony has gone viral.

The Spaniard, who is under contract with the Serie A side until June 2029, attracted interest from a range of La Liga and Liga MX clubs this summer.

Leganes were relegated from the Spanish top-flight during the 2024-25 La Liga season, and are now in their second successive season of fighting for ascension.

Morata has now played with four clubs in the last three seasons: Super Lig four-peaters Galatasaray, Italian top-flight heritage in AC Milan, and Como.

The veteran joined Como initially on a one-season loan from AC Milan, scoring just one goal in 30 appearances last year as Cesc Fabregas’ men hunted down European qualification.

The team secured Champions League football with a fourth-placed finish, beating out AC Milan, who ended the campaign in fifth, in the process.

Morata joined Como permanently this summer, then moved out immediately on another season-long loan to Leganes. Now, his presentation ceremony for the La Liga 2 club has gone viral.

While being unveiled to the Leganes faithful, Morata was captured on video attempting to entertain the crowd, as is typical during presentation ceremonies, with keepy-uppies.

The veteran was seen laughing after an initially successful around-the-world attempt that was swiftly followed by a failure to repeat the skill, with the ball flying off his shin.

Morata ran after it, and began the process again. This time, he managed two around-the-world's, before the football stuck itself to the underside of his heel and dropped.

The veteran striker didn’t laugh as much that time, and stuck to regular keepy-uppies in his next attempt.

When Morata gathered the confidence to attempt another trick, he failed to control the ball immediately, then walked slowly across to the area of the pitch it had rolled over to.

It is believed that the Spaniard, despite his viral presentation ceremony comedics, is happy and settled at Leganes, having searched for a route back to his native Madrid all summer.

According to ESPN, the 33-year-old desired the opportunity to return to his homeland; he has now been involved in transfer purchases worth a combined €212 million.

That figure makes Morata the Spanish footballer who has generated the most money in the transfer market in football history, according to Transfermarkt.

The striker has appeared for the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, and more, throughout his career.
