UFC fans are shocked after seeing what former champion Conor McGregor posted on social media before going viral for his performance during a football match.

On Saturday, clips emerged online of McGregor playing in a football match in Ireland, and fans were not impressed with his performance.

The former UFC two-weight champion was seen flying into challenges across the pitch and throwing the opposition team's players onto the ground.

Ahead of the match, McGregor announced on social media that he would be taking to the football pitch, and fans couldn't believe it.

Posting a photo of the Nike boots he would be wearing for the match, McGregor wrote: "Today we ball."

The Irishman then replied to his own post, adding: "I break jaws with my shoulder, and noses. I get the ball any pitch, any where. Moses."

Reacting to McGregor's choice of purple boots, one fan wrote: "Disappointed....thought you'd get the pink ones."

While others posted their reactions to the footage of the Irishman's performance in the match, with one writing: "Got a touch like he’s got timberlands on."

And another added: "Screaming for the ball legs open. Guy thinks it’s MMA ball. No point foot ready to receive the ball. Shocking performance."

While one reacting to a clip of him pulling down an opponent and losing a duel joked: "Looks like he went for a takedown."

And another asked: "Can you play for Manchester United?"

After the footage of his performance in the match went viral, McGregor again posted on X, sharing a photo of biblical figure Moses parting the red sea, alongside the caption: "Me in the centre midfield of any pitch."

McGregor's sudden appearance in the Irish football match comes after he confirmed his interest in buying not one, but two football teams after reports of Elon Musk's apparent interest in buying Premier League giants Liverpool emerged.

He wrote on his Instagram story: "How much is it to buy a League of Ireland team? I might buy two."

Fans had expected that the next time they would see McGregor would be for his rumoured fight with either Logan Paul or KSI, but now it appears we could see more of the Irishman getting himself involved in something outside of combat sports.
