One of the most insane fights in MMA history took place at the Dogfight Wild Tournament in Tarragona, Spain, on Friday night – and the quite remarkable footage is going viral.

Eduardo Riego, a 205lb light heavyweight contender with a record of 8-2-0, faced off against three fighters – Manuel, Ivan and Tomas – in a 3-on-1 bout featuring two-minute rounds.

Here, the 6ft 3in Spanish fighter struggled to match his opponents early on.

In fact, after being swarmed in the octagon, it looked like the main event matchup was all but over as he tried defend himself from numerous jabs, hammerfists and elbows.

But to the utter astonishment of those inside the Tarraco Arena in Tarragona, Riego managed to survive round one.

Then, in perhaps one of the most remarkable comebacks in MMA history, Riego managed to apply a trademark choke-out submission in round two, which meant one of the fighters was ejected.

With two fighters left, the Spaniard continued to struggle but things took a major turn in the third round, when he choked one of his two remaining opponents with a mounted guillotine. Two down, one to go.

Riego was on a role and moments later, he applied a rear-naked choked to the final boss.

As you can see from the footage below, the crowd went nuts as their countryman celebrated his unexpected victory. In fact, Riego was paraded on the shoulders of his opponents in a classy move.

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the bout.

One said: "The single greatest MMA match of all time? You decide," while another commented: "This dude may actually be the baddest man on the planet."

A third wrote: "I’m having a hard time comprehending what I just watched."

A fourth said: "One of the all-time moments in sports. This will go in the history books," while a fifth added: "This is the craziest thing I've seen in combat sports."

As well as the 3-on-1 main event, the Dogfight Wild Tournament in Spain featured a 2-on-2 bout and a four-man “Bloodsport Tournament” that was striking only.

Riego's fight, however, will go down in the history books. How crazy was that?
