Michael Bisping 'almost murdered in hammer attack' as he speaks out

The former MMA star has recalled how he was almost killed as a 17-year-old by the notorious hammer killer that terrorised northern England

Former MMA star Michael Bisping has revealed he was almost murdered in a hammer attack at his own home as a teenager.

Between 1991 and 2004, a string of unsolved murders in northern England followed a similar pattern, with forced entry, petrol-soaked crime scenes and blunt force trauma from a hammer.

The attacks ceased abruptly; however, a recent confession from a convicted rapist and arsonist has reopened the cases with it now revealed that UFC star Bisping was a potential victim. Quoting a user on X, formerly Twitter, regarding the notorious hammer killer, Bisping posted: “Where you see this? This did happen to me.”

The post in question also states: “He terrorized a region for over a decade, left a trail of unsolved murders, and now he says Michael Bisping was his next victim,” from the interview entitled Face-to-Face with a Monster: My Exclusive Prison Interview with the Man Claiming to Be Northern England’s Elusive Hammer Killer.

Bisping was almost killed at the age of 17

Bisping recounted the events on his YouTube channel in August 2021, where he revealed that an unknown stranger turned up at his house in the middle of the night.

“On a summer’s night in 1996, a man came to my apartment to kill me,” Bisping recalls. Bisping went into greater detail of the events that almost saw him murdered before his MMA career kicked off at the age of 25.

Bisping, now 46, would go on to enjoy an impressive MMA career, winning 30 of his 39 fights, 18 of which were by knockout. It wasn’t just MMA that Bisping is remembered for, with the Cyprus-born Mixed Martial Artist also picking up a handful of acting credits.

Notably, Bisping featured in ‘XXX: Return of Xander Cage’ and also had a short cameo at the end of the 2018 film ‘Den of Thieves’ and he makes a brief appearance in the recently-released 'The Naked Gun', starring Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson.

However, all of that would not have been made possible had Bisping not fought his way out of a potentially fatal incident when he was just 17, while the fighter, in the heat of the moment, felt he knew the attacker after he had entered the home.

Bisping talks about Bruno

“Who the f*** was this? In a split-second my mind raced over anyone — everyone — it could possibly be. It returned one name. The name of a thirty-something lout who I’d had several run-ins with,” Bisping said.

“The town bully who, finally, I’d snapped on and decked with a punch earlier that month.

“’Bruno?’ The intruder’s masked face startled back from the glass. The smile was gone. ‘Bruno — is that you?’ He took a step back. It was f***ing Bruno!”

Bisping was inducted into the 2019 UFC Hall of Fame among a number of championships and accomplishments during a glittering career both in and out of the ring.
