The richest golfers in the world have been revealed, with players combining both on-course success with deals away from the sport earning stunning amounts of money.
It's well known that being a professional athlete can be one of the most financially rewarding careers in the world should you make it to the very top of your sport.
In 2025, Cristiano Ronaldo unsurprisingly topped the list of the world's highest-paid athletes due to his huge Al-Nassr contract and endorsement portfolio.
Star athletes from several different sports regularly feature on rich lists each year, with some sports producing high-earners more than others.

Among the highest-earners across all sports, you will typically find some of the biggest names in golf, with multi-million prizes available at a wide variety of tournaments throughout the year, particularly on the PGA Tour.
For example, players competing for the TOUR Championship compete for a $40million purse, with the FedExCup Champion taking home a massive $10m.
But it's not just prize money from majors and other big competitions that contribute to a player's wealth, as sponsorships, business ventures, contracts with LIV Golf and investments away from the sport all contribute.
And while it's impossible to know exactly how much golf players are worth with new sponsorship deals being landed and big tournaments won by the biggest names in the sport, we have the up-to-date list of the richest golfers.
1: Tiger Woods - $1.4–$1.5bn
- Age: 50
- Nationality: American
- Major titles: 15
- Career prize money: $120,999,166 (official PGA Tour earnings)
- Biggest sponsorships: Nike (1996–2024), TaylorMade, Rolex, Bridgestone Golf, Hero MotoCorp, Monster Energy, Full Swing Golf, Upper Deck.
Having already topped the list of the greatest golfers of all time, it will surprise nobody to know that Woods is also the highest earner in the sport, having become the only billionaire golfer on the planet in 2022.
The American's massive success of the PGA Tour and off-course investments has allowed him to become not only the biggest earner in golf, but one of the highest-paid athletes in all sports.
When adjusted for inflation, Woods is actually second on the list of the highest-paid athletes ever, with only Michael Jordan ahead of him largely thanks to the success of his partnership with Nike.
Aside from his success on the course, perhaps Woods' biggest investment came just last year when he helped launch the lucrative TGL indoor golf league.
2: Greg Norman - $450m
- Age: 71
- Nationality: Australian
- Major titles: 2
- Career prize money: Approximately $13.7 million (official worldwide tournament earnings)
- Biggest sponsorships: Cobra Golf, Rolex, Qantas (former), Mercedes-Benz (former), Greg Norman Collection, Shark/Norman Holdings.
Although he may not have quite reached the same heights as Woods in terms of major titles won, Norman is often remembered for his spectacular feat of holding the position of world No.1 for 331 weeks.
But most impressively, Norman did this whilst also working on the business side of golf, culminating in him becoming CEO and frontman of the LIV Golf tour.
3: Jack Nicklaus - $400m
- Age: 86
- Nationality: American
- Major titles: 18 (record)
- Career prize money: Approximately $5.7 million
- Biggest sponsorships: Rolex, Perry Ellis, Golden Bear, Nicklaus Design, various golf equipment partnerships.
Alongside Woods, Nicklaus is regarded by many as the greatest golfer of all time thanks to his record of 18 major titles cementing his place in the debate.
Of course, winning so many majors brings with it some big pay days but, due to the era that he played in, the prize pots weren't nearly as big as they are in the modern game.
Instead, Nicklaus has made his wealth long after retiring from competitive play by founding Nicklaus Design, which is widely considered the most prestigious firm in golf course architecture, crafting more than 430 courses across the globe.
4: Phil Mickelson - $350m
- Age: 56
- Nationality: American
- Major titles: 6
- Career prize money: $96,728,317 (official PGA Tour earnings; excludes LIV Golf salary and bonuses)
- Biggest sponsorships: Callaway Golf, Workday, Mizzen+Main, KPMG (former), Amgen (former), Rolex (former).
Having won 45 times on the PGA Tour, Mickelson has secured over $96m in prize money alone, enough to comfortably put him ahead of plenty of the sport's other big names.
Add to that sponsorships with Callaway, Rolex and KPMG and Mickelson has earned well over $300m during his career.
Of course, a large part of his net worth also comes after he defected to LIV Golf, securing a reported $200m guaranteed signing bonus in the process.
5: Rory McIlroy - $330-350m
- Age: 37
- Nationality: Northern Irish
- Major titles: 6 (after successfully defending the Masters in 2026)
- Career prize money: $116,106,347 (official PGA Tour earnings)
- Biggest sponsorships: Nike, TaylorMade, Omega, Optum, GolfPass/NBC Sports, TPG Sports.
McIlroy is without a doubt one of, if not the biggest, name in the sport right now and the only active player with a career Grand Slam and therefore his place on the list comes as no surprise.
As of July 2026, he is second only to Woods in total PGA Tour career earnings with $116m.
The Northern Irishman has secured several endorsements, including Nike and TaylorMade, and also co-founded TMRW Sports with Woods, the company that created the TGL league.
6: Gary Player - $250m
- Age: 90
- Nationality: South African
- Major titles: 9
- Career prize money: Approximately $9.1 million
- Biggest sponsorships: Rolex, Callaway Golf, SAP, Gary Player Group, Black Knight International.
At 90-years-old, Player still holds a place in this list after picking up over 160 professional wins across the world during a career spanning more than five decades.
Like his rival Nicklaus, much of Player's net worth comes from deals off the course, due to prize money during his playing days being far lower than today.
Instead, his place on the list comes due to more than 150 golf course design projects as well as global branding, corporate speaking engagements and various exhibition events.
7: Jon Rahm - $200-300m
- Age: 31
- Nationality: Spanish
- Major titles: 2
- Career prize money: $55.45 million (official PGA Tour earnings before joining LIV Golf)
- Biggest sponsorships: Callaway Golf, Rolex, Mercedes-Benz, VistaJet, Blue Yonder, LIV Golf/Legion XIII.
Rahm is the most recent addition to the list with career-defining wins at the 2021 US Open and The Masters in 2023.
Alongside the prize money, the wins helped the Spaniard secure sponsorship deals with Callaway, Rolex, Mercedes-Benz and VistaJet.
His biggest financial win came in 2023 when he signed a massive $300m contract with LIV Golf, with reports suggesting he got half of the money up front.
Since then he has been a dominant force on the tour, and across two completed seasons, has earned nearly $92.5m in prize money,
