Another Hollywood star attended the Wrexham match with Paul Rudd

Another Hollywood star attended the Wrexham match with Paul Rudd

Wrexham will be back in the English Football League next season

Paul Rudd was joined by another Hollywood star at the Wrexham match as the Non League side sealed promotion back to the English Football League.

Heading into Saturday’s match against Boreham Wood, Wrexham needed a victory to secure promotion to League Two.

With less than a minute played, Boreham Wood went ahead of a defensive blunder by Wrexham.

However, Wrexham dug deep and ended up winning 3-1 after a goal by Elliott Lee and a brace from Paul Mullin.

Antman actor Paul Rudd was in attendance as he joined Wrexham’s Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny at The Racecourse.

However, fans pointed out that fellow Hollywood star Joe Russo was also present at the match.

Reacting to a video of Rudd having a drink with supporters, one fan said: “Put some respect on Joe Russo's name please.”

Another tweeted: “It's mad that Joe Russo was right there...only the director of multiple Marvel films and no one bothered to mention him.”

A third fan added: “That’s Joe Russo there too! One of the directors of Avengers.”

Someone else wrote: “Joe Russo was there too!!!”

Whilst a fifth commented: “They got Joe Russo and Ant-Man AND Deadpool???”

Speaking after the match, Reynolds told BT Sport: “I am not sure I can process what happened tonight. I am still a little speechless.

“[People ask] 'Why Wrexham?'. This is why Wrexham. This happening, right now, is why. Boreham Wood showed up today. They are an incredible team. They have one of the best defences in the entire league.”

On Sunday morning, Reynolds took to social media to reflect on the club’s achievement.

He tweeted: “Everything I own smells like champagne, beer and grass.

“I’m still somewhere between giggling and sobbing. This town and this sport is one of the most romantic things on earth. Thank you, @Wrexham_AFC.”
