Ben Foster revealed he was ‘the most hungover man in the world’ after making Wrexham debut

Ben Foster came out of retirement to play for Wrexham

Ben Foster has revealed he was enjoying a boozy ‘all-dayer’ a week prior to his second Wrexham debut.

On Thursday, it was confirmed that 39-year-old Foster has come out of retirement by signing for Non-League side Wrexham. The former Manchester United and Watford goalkeeper has agreed to a deal until the end of the 22/23 season.

Upon returning to the club he played for 18 years ago, Foster kept a clean sheet on his second full debut as Wrexham recorded a convincing 3-0 victory over York City.

After the match, he revealed that a week ago he was partaking in a boozy day out at the famous Cheltenham Festival. You can watch the footage below.

Speakinbg to the Rob Ryan Red’s podcast TikTok channel, Foster said: “A week ago today it was Gold Cup Friday on Cheltenham and we had an all-dayer.

“So I was the most hungover man in the world last Saturday. So this is a massive contrast to what that was like last week.”

Foster has also stated that his wages whilst with the Welsh club are ‘peanuts’, whilst expressing his excitement over meeting the club’s Hollywood owner Ryan Reynolds.

He said: “I don't need much (money) – to be honest. The negotiations took about five minutes. Wages wise, it's literally peanuts… the part for me is getting the team over the line and getting them promoted. I'm a very low maintenance player – just wheel me out, I'll do a job.

“Apparently Ryan (Reynolds) is going to give me a call later today! Van Wilder is one of my favourite films! Buzzing to talk to him later. They (owners Reynolds and McElhenney) are so prevalent at the football club, they are always there. it's not like a plaything, they want to be a part of it.”

After the win against York, Wrexham are now three points clear at the top of the table with promotion well within their reach.
