Joao Felix produced a brilliant performance as Portugal sailed through to the World Cup quarter-finals by thrashing Switzerland 6-1 on Tuesday night.

Despite Cristiano Ronaldo starting on the bench, Portugal were dominant from start to finish as goals by Pepe, Raphael Guerreiro, Rafael Leao and a hat-trick from Goncalo Ramos sealed a rampant victory.

Although the headlines were made by Ronaldo and Ramos, Felix’s performance did not go unnoticed as his display drew a lot of plaudits from fans, proving that he can be Portugal’s main man for years to come.

Best Moment:

Felix’s general play was outstanding throughout the match as he displayed some great close control and intricate passes to create chances for himself and his teammates.

His best of the match was the fine pass for his side’s opening goal, picking the ball up from a throw-in, the Atletico Madrid man wiggled his way out of a tight space and threaded a wonderful ball for Ramos to smash home.

Player Rating: 9/10

Despite not being on the scoresheet, Felix registered two assists and played a big role in creating Portugal’s fifth goal. It was a pleasure to watch Felix play when he is at his best. A wonderful performance.

What was said about his performance?

Fans of many clubs were all purring over Felix’s performance, demanding their club sign the 23-year-old.

One said: “Someone tag Guardiola in this video please.”

Another tweeted: “He’s special. Bring him to Old Trafford asap!”

A third fan added: “Ramos stole the show, but this is football magic from Felix. This man needs to leave Atletico fast.”

Video Highlights:

Overall Verdict:

It was a mature performance from Felix as he showed the world exactly what he is capable of. There is no wonder why many big clubs across the continent are looking to lure him away from Madrid. He will only get better, the question is whether Atletico will be able to hold on to their most prized asset.
