Georgina Rodriguez, Cristiano Ronaldo's fiancee, has responded to a fake post attributed to Joao Neves' girlfriend criticising the Portugal striker.
Portugal got their 2026 World Cup campaign off to a disappointing start on Wednesday as they drew 1-1 with DR Congo in their opening fixture at the Houston Stadium.
Following the draw, many fans and pundits criticised star player Ronaldo as many claimed that he appeared to be more concerned about his own accomplishments rather than the team's.
"One thing that's important, people, please at home: the team needs to score, not you need to score," Thierry Henry stated after the match.

Since then there has been a wave of unrest on social media seemingly sparked by Paris Saint-Germain's Joao Neves, who scored Portugal's only goal in the match, referring to Ronaldo as 'just another player.'
"We know what Cristiano has done for us, for our national team, and for the world of football. But at this moment, he and we know that he is no different. He is just another player here to help," Neves said post-match
"He is no different from the others. He is here to contribute, just like all of us.”
The quotes drew huge criticism from Ronaldo fans who perceived the seemingly harmless comment as a dig at the Portugal captain.
This led to the creation of a fake comment attributed to Neves' girlfriend that went viral online that appeared to show her replying to a fan who’d said Neves should pass to Ronaldo more.
"Tell your goat to retire he’s very selfish," the fake comment read.

Unfortunately, the fake comment appears to have fooled Georgina Rodriguez, Ronaldo's fiancee, who came to the defence of her partner.
Replying to the comment, she wrote: "Wow! This generation is coming through strong!"
The interaction further demonstrates how fractured the Portugal squad appear to be at the minute, something that was abundantly clear during their World Cup opener against DR Congo.
In fact, the situation is believed to be so bad that Manchester City’s Ruben Dias tried to defuse both in private and during a recent press conference.
"First of all, I don't think the blame is being directed at just one player," Dias told reporters ahead of their second World Cup fixture.
"Obviously, Cris is a major focus of attention, but I think we’re all in the firing line at a time like this. But, above all, and quite apart from what I've just said, I don’t think anything out of the ordinary is happening.
"It's always been like this whenever I’ve been here, I believe it will continue to be so in the future and, as such, it's nothing new."
Portugal face Uzbekistan on Thursday once again at the Houston Stadium in their next World Cup match, with at win likely needed if they hope to progress to the knockout stage.
They will then face Colombia in their final group stage fixture on Sunday June 28 in a match to decided who tops Group K.
