Fans have called for Lee Mack to be cancelled after he made a shock joke about Jill Scott during his acceptance speech at the NTA awards.

Comedian, Mack, was handed the Quiz Game Show award for The 1% Club during Tuesday night's ceremony.

But after taking to the stage, the 55-year-old made a risky joke about retired Lioness, Scott, who was presenting the event category alongside comedian, Mo Gilligan.

Upon receiving his trophy, Mack joked: "To receive a sex toy like this off Jill Scott is an absolute pleasure."

While plenty of the audience erupted with laughter at his comment, some people on social media have called for the Would I Lie To You star to be cancelled.

Taking to X, formerly of Twitter, one user wrote: "Well Lee Mack is gonna get cancelled now."

A second added: "Not sure @LeeMack did himself any favours there. Still a big fan of 100% club."

A third chimed in: "Watching lee mack trying to be funny is just painful."

However, others saw no issue with the speech, with one person tweeting: "Lee mack makes me cry with laughter oh my god."

Another remarked: "Lee Mack proving what a proper comedian can do if you have a bit of talent."

The 1% Club was competing against Michael McIntyre's The Wheel, The Chase Celebrity Special and Richard Osman's House Of Games.

Mack also took aim at I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here duo Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly after noticing that the microphone was too low for him.

He quipped: "Well, I don't know who's set the microphones up but I bet they thought he was going to do the talking," as he pointed to a shorter colleague.

As the audience laughed, he shrugged his shoulders, adding: "... Or that Ant and Dec were going to win it," before the camera panned to the Saturday Night Takeaway duo giggling in the audience.
