No football club has quite as storied a history with music as Liverpool FC. From their world famous anthem to their selection of Top 50 singles on the UK charts across the 1970s and 1980s, the red half of Merseyside has always had an affinity for music, so it’s unsurprising that they’ve recently announced Sonos as their new Official Sound Partner, with an aim to bring fans closer to the game and each other through the shared experience of sound. To support youth and amateur football clubs around Europe, Sonos have partnered with Liverpool FC to give grassroot players the chance to win a premium Sonos sound system for their club.
In a recent study conducted by Sonos, nearly half of sports fans agree that good music helps them with their pre-game energy. It’s hard not to agree when you recall the electricity of Anfield on a European night when “You’ll Never Walk Alone” comes on the tannoy. You might not quite recreate Anfield, but you can definitely improve your local grassroots clubs thanks to Sonos’ sound expertise and their campaign to support Europe’s amateur and youth football teams.
The research concluded with fans being asked the best anthem to sing along to after a victory. Queen’s “We are the Champions” came out as a fan favourite. Is there a sweeter feeling than singing “We are the Champions” at the top of your voice in the changing room after a cup final win? We don’t think so.

Ever wondered what professional footballers listen to before a huge match? Sonos asked the Liverpool men’s and women’s first team to select their favourite pre-match songs. These have been included on an Anfield Pre-Match Anthems station that can be listened to on Sonos Radio for free to Sonos users on the app and on Mixcloud for those not at home and everyone else. The radio station is hosted by Liverpool and rap legend John Barnes.
