PSG have sacked manager Thomas Tuchel, less than 24 hours after they defeated Strasbourg 4-0 in Ligue 1.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss has been under pressure at the Parc des Princes for some time but was kept on in the summer after reaching the Champions League final in August.

PSG's form hasn't been great this season though and they struggled to get through their group in Europe, before eventually topping it, and in Ligue 1 they have lost four times already and are currently in third.

German paper Bild reported on Thursday morning that he'd been sacked on Christmas Eve, coming just after they won 4-0 on Wednesday night.

French outlet RMC soon confirmed the news that the 47-year-old had left the Parisian club, despite overseeing their recent win.

It's not the first time a manager has been sacked on Christmas Eve, with Charlton Athletic manager Les Reed let go on December 24th 2006, before being replaced by Alan Pardew.

That of course won't come as much consolation for Tuchel, who took over in the French capital from Unai Emery in 2018.

RMC journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi claims that Mauricio Pochettino is set to take over from Tuchel in France, which will come as little surprise.

The former Spurs manager has been out of work for over a year, since he was replaced by Jose Mourinho in north London, and previously played for PSG.

He has been linked with pretty much every top job in football since leaving England's top tier, including Manchester United, Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona.
