Premier League Side Eye Up £25 Million Kelechi Iheanacho Signing

Manchester City youngster is not needed at the Etihad and there could be a bit of a scramble for his services.

There was a time when £25 million would have guaranteed you a world class, proven striker, but now it's pretty much the base rate for most signings between Premier League clubs and Kelechi Iheanacho is no different.

Writing any article about Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho is a bit of a pain because there's little chance of me spelling his name correctly without copy and paste.

The 20 year-old Nigerian burst onto the Premier League scene two seasons ago when he made his debut for Manchester City on the club's preseason tour to America.

A winning goal as a substitute against West Brom early in the season had everyone talking about the next big thing and his first year in the Premier League was a good one.

However last season things slowed down for Iheanacho and despite seven goals in all competitions he only played 528 minutes of Premier League football.

So it's no surprise that he's available for transfer this summer and according to the Telegraph former Premier League champions Leicester City are ready to offer £25 million for the striker.

The newspaper note that the Foxes want to jump straight to the front of the queue to beat off interest from West Ham, Everton and Crystal Palace.

The young striker clearly isn't trusted by Pep Guardiola to lead his line. When Sergio Aguero was suspended early last season the Spaniard turned to Nolito upfront.

Since then Guardiola has brought in two attacking players in Gabriel Jesus and Bernardo Silva making chances for Iheanacho almost impossible.

Furthermore City are still hoping to bring in Alexis Sanchez for next season even with Arsenal staying resolute in their bid to keep him at the club.

Leicester want to add more firepower to their team and hope to add Premier League experience after Islam Slimani and Ahmed Musa failed to reach their potential.

Craig Shakespeare has already brought in Harry Maguire as he looks to make his own mark on the Leicester squad following his full time appointment.

Whether or not Iheanacho can reach his potential is a big question but if he does the Foxes will be getting a bargain, kind of...
