Manchester City are said to be leading the race to sign a Champions League star.

Man City want to improve their attacking options this summer as Phil Foden, who has scored an impressive 22 goals this season, moves into a more influential role while Kevin De Bruyne will turn 33 by the time the new season starts.

The Blues are on the hunt for versatile players who can operate in a few different positions of the forward line.

Someone who fits that bill is Jamal Musiala, who is attracting interest from Man City as they plot a potential move this summer.

According to The Independent, Man City are a step ahead of their rivals - including Liverpool - in their pursuit of Musiala.

Last season's treble winners are among the clubs keeping tabs on the Bayern Munich ace's situation, with their interest more advanced than the likes of Liverpool, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

Musiala has enhanced his budding reputation this season and is one of the most sought-after players in Europe.

The 21-year-old is contracted at Bayern until 2026, but he has yet to extend his current deal, paving the way for a potential transfer away from the German giants. There is a belief among clubs interested in him that he may be available this year or next.

He wants guarantees about his side's ability to compete as they are course to surrender the Bundesliga title to Xabi Alonso's Bayer Leverkusen.

Pep Guardiola and his backroom staff are huge admirers of the English-raised German international and would love to lure him to the Etihad.

It's thought the superstar player would command a whopping transfer fee of around £87 million.

This season, Musiala has scored 12 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions, having bagged 16 goals in the 2022/23 campaign.
