Manchester City are currently battling to win what would be a historic and unprecedented quadruple but Pep Guardiola is also thinking about next season and the Spaniard is eyeing one of Europe's top prospects.

Despite Liverpool still being top of the league there are many people who would consider Manchester City to be favourite to lift the Premier League trophy sometime in May, in fact even the bookies think City will win.

There's several factors at play, it's impossible to ignore the fact that Pep Guardiola is a persistent winner of trophies, that City are defending champions, that Liverpool haven't won the league in 29 years and probably most importantly that Guardiola has the stronger squad at his fingertips.

Jurgen Klopp has a magnificent starting XI to work with, no one can doubt that, but beyond his strongest team there are questions to be had.

For City though there are far fewer questions, with only really Fernandinho in midfield extremely difficult to replace without impact.

Despite that excellent strength in depth there are three positions that Guardiola would like to strengthen even further in the summer, including up front.

According to the Daily Mail, City are eyeing up a future move for Eintracht Frankfurt frontmann Luka Jovic, who is the Bundesliga's top goalscorer.

Jovic is on loan from Benfica, having joined the German side temporarily in 2017 for a two year spell, but has a future fee of £6 million in he agreement.

The Bundesliga side are likely to trigger that clause and make him their player with the 21 year old bagging 15 goals this season, two more than second placed Robert Lewandowski and Marco Reus.

Frankfurt could then expect to sell the striker on for an incredible profit, straight after making him their own player 'permanently.'

City wouldn't be the only team interested in him, after all he can play in a deeper number 10 role as well as number 9, and would face competition from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich to sign him.

Pep will also look to give Fernandinho cover, as he tried to do last summer with moves for Jorginho and Fred, whilst Ben Chilwell is his other target.
