Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has been linked with a surprise move away from Old Trafford.

Shaw moved to the Red Devils in 2014 for a fee of £30 million but his stint at the club has hardly gone to plan, having made 49 appearances for the club and only managing 32 in the Premier League.

Wretched luck with injuries, a lack of form and a lack of trust from Jose Mourinho has seen the Southampton youth product endure a tough time in recent years.

Shaw has only just returned from injury this season, building up his fitness with the United reserves before making two cameo substitute appearances in the Carabao Cup.

And with Ashley Young and Daley Blind ahead of him in the pecking order at United, he may well need to look elsewhere for regular football.

Turkish giants Fenerbahce, who have former Manchester United man Robin van Persie and Spurs flops Roberto Soldado and Vincent Janssen in their ranks, are on the look-out for a new left-back and have reportedly identified the out-of-favour 22-year old as an option.

In fact, as per Turkish newspaper Fanatik, via Football365, are saying that Fener have already entered negotiations with United over Shaw, with a January loan move potentially on the cards.

Recently, Shaw talked up the possibility of playing under former boss Mauricio Pochettino at some point at the future. In a new book being brought out by journalist Guillem Balague, titled 'Brave New World: Inside Pochettino's Spurs', as quoted by the Daily Mail, he writes:

"He used to call me his son, 'That's how good our relationship was. I've had lots of ups and downs, but when I was with Pochettino it was only ever up, up, up.

"He made me feel that I was the best. He'd show me clips of my games and say, 'You could do this better'. Not in a horrible way. Not I could have done better, but I should have done better, because he knows I can be better.

"I think with Southampton he achieved the impossible. We were one of the best footballing teams in the league... I do hope that I can play for him again one day. And I think he really wants me to play under him again."
