The intense speculation linking Robert Lewandowski with a move to Real Madrid remain rampant, and the striker has finally responded to the rumours following Bayern Munich's victory over the weekend.

We may be a few weeks removed for the summer transfer window, but a potential blockbuster move is already in the offing.

Lewandowski has been heavily connected with a transfer to Real Madrid, as reports surface claiming the player is 'obsessed' with joining the European champions.

His request to move away from Bayern Munich is reportedly as a result of lack of competition and frustration at the clubs business over the summer.

And following the German champions securing all three points at home to Mainz 05 on Saturday, which included a brace from the prolific Polish international, he emphatically responded to the suggestion that he's seeking a switch.

"I don't have to comment every time on every bit of nonsense, whether it means something or not, and I don't have to say something about this bulls---," he told the media via ESPN.

Needless to say, the rumour spread like wildfire with Bayern's CEO sharing his thoughts on the transfer story.

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has gone on record to say that he believes it's the players agent who is behind Lewandowski's recent comments:

Speaking to Der Spiegel over the summer, Rummenigge said of Lewandowski, "Lewandowski has no need to worry. We have a very good team this season. And we have a philosophy in place for many years - a serious and strong philosophy which has brought us a lot of success".

What's more, in an interview with Bild, Rummenigge continued to downplay Lewandowski's supposed dream move to the Spanish capital:

"I'm sorry about what he said. It's not the first time that he has spoken badly of our club and I know that his agent [Maik] Barthel is behind those declarations. I don't think though, that a player would have that amount of power. Lewandowski's contract is up in 2021 and unfortunately for him he doesn't have a release clause".

This isn't the last we've heard of the Lewandowski to Real Madrid transfer. Buckle up.
