Sky have cancelled its popular football show after less than two years on air.

In 2023, Sky axed Soccer AM after 28 years on Sky Sports, with the show debuting back in 1995.

Sky continued to ring the changes as they made a major overhaul on Soccer Saturday, with Jeff Stelling leaving his role as presenter. He later opened up on his high-profile departure.

Another show on Sky has fallen by the wayside after a producer confirmed it won't be returning next season.

According to Spencer Millman, Sky have cancelled Fantasy Football League.

The show is a mix of football discussions and comedy sketches and was a reboot of the 1990s original fronted by Frank Skinner and David Baddiel.

It returned in September 2022, with comedians Matt Lucas and Elis James hosting the new-look show.

But Fantasy Football League won't be back for next season.

On X, the show's producer wrote: "Gutted to say that Fantasy Football League won't be returning for another run.

"Big thanks to my brilliant production team, crew, writers, spotters, you were an absolute joy to work with.

"A massive thanks to all the sofa & phoenix guests we had over the 24 shows, we loved having you.

"Huge love to Matt, Elis, Mense and of course Lee Trundle but most importantly thanks to the people who watched it.

"I’m eternally grateful you accepted the changes to the original and sorry we won’t be making more. Much love and gratitude."

Fantasy Football League boasted big-name specials guests across the show's 20-month spell on Sky, including former Tottenham and West Ham United forward Jermain Defoe, ex-Liverpool man Emile Heskey and Arsenal youth graduate Jack Wilshere.

Not to mention Gabriel Agbonlahor, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Wes Morgan and Pedro Mendes.

Presenter Andrew Mensah was also a weekly contributor alongside hosts Lucas and James.
