Chelsea are interested in the Stoke City forward as Antonio Conte looks for striker cover.

You know it's a weird transfer window when Andy Carroll to Chelsea isn't the strangest 'striker to Chelsea' rumour doing the rounds. But would a move for Peter Crouch actually be good for Chelsea?

Alvaro Morata may have scored 10 Premier League goals already this season but the Chelsea striker's form has had such an alarming drop off that Antonio Conte is in desperate need of some cover up front to make sure his side finish in the top four.

In the summer the Blues manager was clearly not too convinced that, despite signing Morata, he had enough in reserve should he need anyone to replace the former Real Madrid striker. His target was Fernando Llorente but he went to Spurs instead.

Check out our favourite of Peter Crouch's tweets:

Obviously this window he's had to change his targets and everyone is slightly baffled by the former Juventus manager's shopping list.

First he went for Andy Carroll and with the Hammers striker reportedly out injured for a while he's turned his attention to 36 year old Stoke man Peter Crouch but as ridiculous as it sounds Jermaine Jenas told BBC 5 Live it was a good idea, saying:

"People will be saying, 'Look, he's 36 years old... ' but it's looking like it will be a year-and-a-half deal... maybe a year, I don't know.

"It's a no-brainer, really, in terms of the money Chelsea will have to pay for him, what the wages will be and what he'll bring to the table... as a second option, by the way. Yeah, I can understand why that deal could get done."

And fans were left questioning the former Spurs midfielder's views on the transfer that you'd think was made up if it hadn't been literally everywhere the last few days:

Looks like it's a no from them!
