Luka Modric tipped to complete crazy move back to England in deal that would send shockwaves through the football world

Luka Modric is leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season.

Luka Modric has been tipped to make a shock move back to English football after confirming his Real Madrid exit.

After 13 trophy-laden years with Los Blancos, Modric confirmed his decision to leave the club this summer.

Taking to social media, the midfield maestro wrote: "The time has come. The moment I never wanted to come, but that's football, and in life everything has a beginning and an end... On Saturday I will play my last match at the Santiago Bernabeu.

"Playing for Real Madrid changed my life as a football player and as a person. I am proud to have been part of one of the most successful eras of the best club in history. Although, after the Club World Cup, I will no longer wear this shirt on the pitch, I will always be a Madridista."

Since the news went public, the 39-year-old has been linked with clubs in the United States, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

However, former Madrid man Fernando Morientes has tipped Modric to make a shock move to Welsh club Swansea City.

He said to CasinoHawks, who offer the latest online casinos: "Luka Modric playing for Swansea would be tremendous.

"I'm sure there would be a lot of excitement among the fans. A player like Luka Modric, even if he's at the end of his career, would be welcome I’m sure and he would be excited for the project.

"Obviously, we shouldn't expect him to be 100 per cent or at his best because he's at a certain age, but even when he came on against Barcelona, the feeling of Madrid in midfield changed."

Morientes continued: "He probably doesn't have the level of competitive rhythm that a game like that demands, but he's so intelligent, he's so good in midfield, he has so much quality that he could continue to give a few good seasons.

"I think he could have a couple of good seasons in England, without a doubt and I'm convinced the excitement he would generate among the fans would be tremendous."

Prior to moving to Madrid, Modric made a name for himself when he played in England for Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur.
